About me
I'm Milad Mostafaei, a software engineer with 17+ years of experience building software products — mobile and desktop apps, web systems, automation and security. I started as a PHP developer in 2009, moved into mobile in 2011, and spent six years as CTO of a health-care company, leading the technical team and product from zero to production. Today I design, build and ship my own products end to end — from idea and architecture to store releases and support.
I'm meticulous about planning and structure, I keep up with the latest changes in the ecosystems I work in, and every skill I claim is backed by a real, published product.
PHP & Laravel
PHP has been my primary back-end language since 2009 and Laravel my framework since its early versions. My Laravel style: thin controllers with logic in service/action classes, Form Requests for validation, Policies for authorisation, queues for slow work (mail, file processing, backups) and events/listeners to isolate side effects. For database design I start normalised and denormalise only where measured performance demands it; foreign keys and composite indexes follow the real query patterns, JSON columns hold multilingual or semi-structured data, and migrations stay reversible. I use Eloquent with explicit relations, eager loading and N+1 prevention, and build API layers with Sanctum, versioning, rate limiting and consistent response shapes. Admin panels with Filament, lightweight front-ends with Blade + Livewire + Tailwind, tests with PHPUnit. Examples: the MTMovies, MT Apartment and MTAgent back-ends, and this website.
Flutter & Dart
Flutter is my first choice for multi-platform products: one code base for Android, iOS, web, Windows, macOS and even Android TV. I favour a feature-first layering (UI → state → repository → data source) with predictable state management, and I design products offline-first — local SQLite as the source of truth, changes recorded as versioned events, and two-way sync with conflict resolution. Platform details matter to me: D-pad navigation on TV, native players (ExoPlayer/AVPlayer) behind a shared interface, Jalali calendars and full right-to-left support. Examples: MTMovies, MT Apartment, MTAgent.
Android (Java & Kotlin)
I've written native Android since 2011, first in Java and then Kotlin: MVVM, Jetpack (ViewModel, Room, WorkManager), Coroutines and Retrofit, plus the lower layers — background services, file handling and native-library integration. My published utility apps (subtitle translator, subtitle editor, PDF-to-Word converter) with millions of downloads are built on this foundation.
iOS & Swift
I started iOS development in 2012 and work with Swift and SwiftUI today; I also build native macOS apps that go deep into hardware and OS — MT Transfer talks to iPhones over USB via Apple's protocols, and MTClean works with the file system, Full Disk Access permissions and parallel processing. Comfortable with Combine/async-await, Core Data, App Store publishing and signing/notarising Mac apps.
Windows & .NET
The Windows editions of my desktop tools are built with C# and .NET, sharing the logic layer with macOS so both editions behave identically — including USB device access, parallel file processing and installer packaging.
JavaScript, Vue.js & Node.js
On the front-end I build responsive, right-to-left interfaces with modern JavaScript, Vue.js and Tailwind, with attention to real performance (bundle size, Core Web Vitals, accessibility). In Node.js I write auxiliary and real-time services — such as the watch-party WebSocket channel — and have built Telegram bots and background processors on it.
Infrastructure & security
I run my own Linux servers (Nginx/Apache, PHP-FPM, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, queues and cron, backups and monitoring) and treat security as a design input: CSP and security headers, input validation and sanitisation, safe uploads, rate limiting, two-factor authentication and hardware-bound licensing for desktop software. I've integrated Iranian payment gateways (Zibal, Zarinpal) and SMS providers into several products.
